Bathing & Cleaning

I was buying dead sea salts (it gets expensive) and just now use regular table salt with or without iodine. No particular brand of salts was better than the other. I use like a cup or more in the tub. I taste to be salty and add magnesium flakes (doesn’t matter which kind just make sure no perfumes). Now I read about baking soda it helps balance pH and add half a small box into the bath as well. You can get them cheap at dollarama. I would take baths with my babies to get them to soak up all the minerals plus didn’t want to waste all the products. When things were bad we took a bath almost every night. Yeah doctor says limit it but they never had it themselves. Take advice from people who have results you want. Frequent baths helped us more then 1-2x a week because it’ll ‘dry out the skin’ the more the merrier for us. On top of the creams (mentioned below) I used an anti-fungal soap bar. I washed all the problem areas. To this day, all my babies eczema, itchy skin, patches are all at bay. We do baking soda baths with salt majority of the time. Any little redness or patches, I use the anti-fungal soaps. There was another herbal soap I was using just forget what it was called. It’s green and has neem in it. I was looking for natural anti-fungal and there’s plenty to use as well to alternate between. There’s other anti-fungal soaps you can test out yourself too.

Bonus if you live by the sea and can get in there, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to try. That’s where I got the idea from reading in a forum some grandma took her grandkids to the sea to swim and all their eczema went away. So I tried to mock the baths with the sea making it salty + minerals.

Spray & Creams

Hypochlorous acid spray helps with open wounds and cleaning. I’m not an expert and can’t explain the reasoning why it works but it works for us. It has basic ingredients and is non-toxic. Read about it, do your own research. I bought it on Amazon. I was gonna try see if I can make it myself but nah. I bought the big one for like $30 and have little spray bottles I keep with me everywhere. Can use on open wounds, the oozing, the yellowing, dry patch, everything. Spray the affected areas, let it dry and add the anti-fungal cream.

I started off using the canesten or any clotrimazole inside it and switched between micatin (miconazole nitrate). I found an anti-fungal cream with antibiotic in it at a pharmacy (make sure no mixes with steroids) and this helped when it looked infected with the yellowing. During the rough parts I used those ones, I might have tried others just don’t remember the names but just continued buying those two. Once everything got better I found a natural herbal anti-fungal cream on amazon that I use that is a ringworm treatment cream (in green and blue – pictures are below). I was in some forum in reddit I think where I saw someone post about anti-fungal creams for eczema. He mentioned to keep using it for at least a year because the fungus can stick around. So I’m still using the creams now for maintenance. Once things get better (and they will, take it one day at a time) you’ll get into maintenance and this nightmare will be a thing of the past.

Currently, everything is at bay and controlled (occasional patches, I use the cream again). We left our old home (where my daughter who never had eczema developed itchy patches behind her knees) and into our new home and I treated her with the same routine and her skin cleared up. We went back to the old home for one day for cleaning and when we came back she developed these patches again. We don’t know where but there most have been mold somewhere or something triggering her there and my baby boy. His eczema only seemed to get worse while we were there. We’re in our new place and his skin is calm.

This way worked for us. I’ve tried a lot of ways if you read our story. Basically did the steroid way for 9 months and then we went through topical steroid withdrawal for 8-12 months. The 8-9 month mark his face was a lot better. Then did allergy testing and stayed away from all food allergens plus environmental ones (kept home clean to minimize dust, no perfumes in anything! plus cotton clothing / bedding) and supplementing with vitamin d3+k2, zinc, vit c, cell salts, cod liver oil and enterosgel (for my first son). Prayers this way can work for you. Give it time. It’s not a one day thing and the skin is healed. Just keep with this routine and the skin will get better. Things will get better. I pray for you and your baby that everything will get better.
